Sometimes I just want to stop. Talk of Covid, protests, looting, brutality and conflict. I lose my way. Become more and more convinced that this 'new normal' is life for the foreseeable future.

But then, I FaceTime with my 90 year old grand mother who talks about living through the world war, Diphtheria, Polio and loss of her husband, yet is still enchanted with life. She seemed surprised when I said that 2020 must be especially challenging for her. "No" she said with the phone very close to her face. "I learnt long ago not to see the world through the headlines on the news" she said. "I see it through the people that surround me. So, I just choose to write my own headlines" she added. "Grand daughter FaceTimes her 90 year old grand mother every day is my headline for today" she remarked with a big grin.

Her words collide with my worries, freeing me from the tether I had been holding tight. I am left with a renewed spirit. My headline now reads "woman overwhelmed by the spirit and kindness of her grandmother, and reminded that our capacity to love is never ending".

With the renewed spirit, here is a photo essay of how the lock down has looked for some of us - ample cups of chai, several books read and numerous zoom calls. Tell us how your lock down has been at our Webpage, Facebook & Instagram Page @shellysensarees
